Skills Beyond School
Skills Beyond School is an educational specialist supporting apprenticeships. They support training providers and employers with the launch of apprenticeship programmes and End Point Assessments (EPA). Following Apprenticeship Standards, they assess occupational confidence through the knowledge, skills and behaviours that apprentices demonstrate at the end of the programme.
Project Brief
Skills Beyond School wanted a website that operated as an effective marketing tool and where visitors can learn about their offer. It was vital that the website aids automation and is integrated with Ace360 and Microsoft Office systems that the organisation use.
Branding was included as part of the brief; the company had been operating for 4 years and it was time to update the brand. They had clear ideas around colours to be used in the logo and website.
Skills Beyond School is committed to making the website accessible to as many people as possible.
The Challenge
To offer as much design flexibility as possible, we used a Divi theme that is almost fully customisable. Whilst this offers design and layout freedom, it requires more design expertise to create each page.
The Process
We worked in close collaboration with the Skills Beyond School team throughout the project. They were responsive, insightful and made the process fun and easy.
Having created branding options, they selected the design that informed the development of the website. We then began work on the design and they provided the imagery and copy. We worked in partnership to upload this content in a desirable layout.
Accessibility was a priority for this project and it is good practice for any new website. We ensured that all content could be understood using speech recognition software and screen readers. The text can be zoomed 300% and colour, contrast or font can be altered. These measures improve the online experience for many website visitors.
When the website had been approved, we provided hosting and launched the live site. At this point, all links, software integration and features are checked to ensure they work as intended.
The Results
The outcome is an accessible, intuitive website that outlines the Skills Beyond School services for Employers, Training Providers and Assessors working with apprentices.
