Overview
Bucks film office is a new enterprise, established by Buckinghamshire Council to maximise the economic and social benefits of the county as a filming location. The income from the film office is used to improve local highways, properties and parks. The main objective of the project was to create a visually attractive website to showcase Buckinghamshire locations and facilities. There was also the exciting opportunity to have our work presented to movie producers at Pinewood Studios.
Challenge
A significant challenge for this brief was to visually highlight creativity and opportunities, while sticking to Buckinghamshire Council’s brand guidelines. We had to develop a website that was responsive, easy to navigate and fully compliant with WCAG accessibility standards. The website needs to operate as a one-stop shop for all filming requirements. This included requesting filming permits and licenses, a database of locations and production facilities and, the option for residents to register their location. The other challenge was a tight timescale of 4-weeks from initial meeting to completion while adhering to all requirements and compliances.
Solution
Having built many council and charity websites we are competent in developing a website that followed the highest WCAG standards, which were rigorously tested by Buckinghamshire Council’s digital team. As part of the project, we integrated their Movie Site software to ensure that filming request and location registration processes were easy. This enabled a positive user experience and streamlined administration for the small team.With such a tight deadline, it was great that Buckinghamshire Film Office provided written content and stunning images. Our design includes a search facility, calls to action and links that aid navigation. It also allows for further development as the enterprise develops.The project launch was brought forward a week however we were delighted to present a beautiful and responsive website at Pinewood Studios. Shortly after, we were contacted by a Film Office in another county that wanted a similar solution to promote their filming opportunities.
